Who am I? – I am an average 49 year old woman who is trying to live a normal life whilst dealing with breast cancer and the many challenges it brings.
I am married to the most amazing man who is not only my husband, but my best friend, my rock, my soul mate and I don’t know what I would do without him. We have been together for 29 years and married 25 this November. He puts up with a lot of shit from me (excuse the language) but he is always there no matter what.
I have two wonderful girls who I am so proud of every day and they never cease to amaze me. Don’t get me wrong they can be the devil incarnate at times and I can do nothing right but at other times they are just so amazingly kind and caring with no thought about themselves. But then I suppose that’s daughters for you!!
What is the point of my blog? – Cancer affects so many people nowadays and everywhere you look you know someone or hear of someone, a friend of a friend that has been affected by this cruel bloody awful disease.
Statistics now says that 1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancers amongst women with over 50,000 women being diagnosed each year. UK statistics say that one in eight women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. These are scary facts and I am not trying to scare or alarm people but we must be aware that cancer is still very much around in the 21st century.
If my blog gives someone support or comfort then it has done its job. Cancer affects everyone differently and no two cases are the same. It is whatever works for you and this is my way of helping myself, my family and friends understand what cancer means for me and if it helps someone else, then I have achieved what I set out to do.
